Robert Sundquist R & D Director at S-Solar has received the first and second prize for the development of the system concept Orbit, where the flat plate collector for solar heating and PV (Photovoltaic) are merged to a homogeneous and aesthetically pleasing climate shield. The prize was won for the installation at Villa Åkarp in the County of Skåne, Southern part of Sweden and includes both solar collectors for heating and PV for electricity. S-Solar has delivered the system concept Orbit for both solar heating and PV. ExoTech, one of the leading general contractors within solar energy has carried out the system integration.
“The combined solution, integrated in the building as we see here, where electricity and heating works as different systems gives us synergies. By taking advantage of each systems disadvantages (heat loss from PV increase the efficiency from the solar collectors and the opposite; the PV modules gets more efficient using the cold from the solar collectors cooling) a win win situation is achieved. This is probably one of the solutions that we will see a lot more of in the future”, says Robert Sundquist. “We thank you all by heart for the award means a lot for us in the proceeding development to make solar energy available for everyone”.
Skåne Solar Award 2010
The Skåne Solar Award is given for the second year in a row at Skånes Energiting in Sweden. The prize is given to the architect with the best solar- and PV-solution installed in 2009. In connection with the award there was a short introduction of all installations nominated.

Skånes Energiting is arranged by the Energy Office Skåne (the south part of Sweden), a unit of the local councils. The Energy Office of Skåne works for energy efficiency and for increased use of renewable energy sources. The target group is the inhabitants, municipalities, companies and organisations.
